An Out Of This World Backyard Party with Springfree Trampoline

It's time to start thinking bigger. Like to the moon and back! With the burst of space exploration in the news these days, it's easy to imagine a world full of possibilities. Begin your journey into outer space with a stellar party—right in your own backyard.

Using your Springfree Trampoline as mission control, drape some lights around the frame for ambiance. Hang some star or planet decorations around the exterior. Anything glow-in-the-dark is really mesmerizing. Then, fire up your stellar playlist to set the mood. Some song suggestions: Elton John's "Rocketman", Beastie Boys' "Intergalactic", David Bowie's "Space Oddity", Prince's "I'm a Star", and of course, the "Star Wars" theme song.

Get kids trained properly to be astronauts by engaging in some jumping on your Springfree. After all, if it's good enough for NASA, then it's good enough for your little moonwalker. (In 1980, NASA performed a study and concluded that "rebound exercise is the most effective form of exercise yet devised".)

After their return to earth, kids will most likely be a little famished. Nourish their gravity-laden bodies with something more substantial than freeze-dried ice cream. Rocket kabobs can be made using practically any fruit or veggies. Just make the top piece triangular in shape to emulate the tip of the rocket. Tip: a star-shaped cookie cutter can do wonders. Use it to cut out cheese, sandwiches, watermelon and more. Or simply use your imagination to rename popular snacks: cheese balls become asteroids or onion-flavored circle chips become Saturn's rings. If you want more ideas, check out some of these recipes to ignite creativity.

To truly make an out-of-this-world event, have kids dress up in cosmic costumes. Try some of these DIY options for the whole family to get space-crafty. Wearing an outfit can open up a whole universe of creative stories and role playing. Who would've thought entertaining at home would be such an adventure?

Ready for your next mission? It's galactic game and craft time. A simple one everyone's sure to enjoy is painting moon rocks. Use glow-in-the-dark or metallic paint. Then, hide them around the yard for a moon walk hunt. Or make a peaceful galaxy sensory bottle using common household items such as baby oil, food coloring and glitter. Find complete instructions here.

For physical activity, set up an obstacle course around the yard. Use hula hoops to twirl, cushions to hop on, tunnels to climb through and boxes to bust. And, of course, the Springfree will be the ultimate launchpad.

Wind the activity down by having some pillows and blankets ready for a relaxing viewing of the sky. Point out constellations together. Talk about what you think might really be in the universe. Discuss how space travel can continue to become even more commonplace in the future. Opening up about the unknown with kids can make the impossible seem in reach.
