Built Tough: How Springfree Trampolines Handle Harsh Weather

There’s a reason Springfree Trampolines are considered the strongest backyard trampoline.

Just ask these bears…

Not only are Springfree Trampolines built to handle two grown bears, but they are built to last through the seasons, too.

From snowy winters to scorching summers, Springfree Trampolines are constructed to endure the elements.

We’ll explain how a Springfree is built to last in this blog.

Stay until the end, because we’ll also be providing tips to make your Springfree even stronger.

Springfree Trampoline Weather-Resistant Features Overview

Let’s tackle each one of Springfree Trampoline’s main components to explain how they can withstand all kinds of weather:

1. Trampoline Frame

The Springfree Trampoline frame is made of galvanized cold-rolled steel tubing.

It’s powder-coated with a zinc-enriched base coat and an epoxy primer that is UV and weather-resistant.

Note: UV resistance is essential for a trampoline. The sun is arguably the most damaging weather element to a trampoline’s structure. All necessary Springfree components contain UV-resistant features, as you will see throughout this blog.

The frame includes three layers of rust protection and has proven to withstand 3,000 hours of salt-spray testing.

Beyond the superior quality, the frame is “hidden” from the jumper.

It’s located underneath the jumping surface, making it impossible to land on. This is one of Springfree’s key trampoline safety features

2. Jumping Mat

The Springfree mat is made from a black modulus polypropylene material.

It is infused with a UV stabilizer, which helps with protection from the sun’s UV rays.

The stitching for the mat is protected by two bands of webbing, which are heat-rolled, fusing fibers together.

The mat is tested to 3 million jumps, 500,000 more than the closest competitor.

Springfree uses a SoftEdge Mat, meaning there are no hard edges to land on while jumping.

This differs from traditional spring-based trampolines and is a noted safety component of the mat.

Here’s an example of the SoftEdge mat:

3. Mat Rods

Ever wondered what’s behind Springfree’s springless design?

The secret is the patented mat rods, which sit underneath the trampoline and are usually white (although they can be customized).

They are made from high-strength silica glass fibers and a high-performance polymer matrix resin.

The rods are UV-stabilized and perform consistently in all forms of weather – hot, cold, wet and dry.

You also won’t get that annoying squeaking sound that comes from traditional trampoline springs!

4. Enclosure Net

Now we get to the Springfree net -- called the “FlexiNet” – one of Springfree’s standout features.

When you jump into the net, it flexes (potentially all the way to the ground!) to cushion jumpers and prevent falls.

It’s made from a UV-stabilized, polypropylene mesh (similar to deep sea fishing nets!).

The net uses a high-strength Raschel knit, which is a “non-rip” weave.

This means if one cell on the net gets a tear, it won’t continue tearing down.

How Long Do Springfree Trampolines Last?

All these weather-resistant components are backed by a 10-year warranty – the only company to offer a comprehensive warranty of this length.

That means you can expect a Springfree Trampoline to last for 10 years (or more) without replacing parts if used reasonably and well-maintained.

Springfree’s quality has been verified by being the most-awarded trampoline on the market. They also meet or exceed all ASTM testing standards

Springfree Trampoline Maintenance Tips

While Springfree Trampolines are the longest-lasting trampolines, they may require maintenance every so often.

Below is how you can upkeep your trampoline so it can last for 10+ years!

  • Never take sharp objects onto the trampoline.
  • Only use a soft ball with the trampoline basketball hoop.
  • Don’t leave clear plastic balls on the mat.
  • Avoid using the net as a jumping surface.
  • Jump in the center of the mat (the safest part).
  • Buy a trampoline cover to use if severe weather is approaching. If the weather gets too severe, store it in a secure area just to be safe.

  • For sunny days, purchase a trampoline sunshade to help further protect the trampoline from the sun’s UV light.
  • For snowy regions, clean the mat with a soft-bristled brush when snow accumulates.
  • Do a periodic trampoline “Health Check” (see below).

If you notice any of the following, give us a call. You may need a replacement part.

  • Material flaws in the mat or net
  • Missing rods or rods that are disconnected from the mat
  • Bent or broken frame
  • Missing or broken plastic mat rod holders
  • Missing or broken enclosure rods and rod holders
  • Missing C-clips from the sockets on the frame
  • Cracks or flaking in the sheaths that encase the fiberglass rods
